As I'm sure many of you remember, the Lyus is the training "city" within the city of Reltazaan, on Kahmin. These are low-detail renderings of one of the training "forums" or circles at the Lyus. Not all of the circles look the same. This one happens to be fairly well built-up, with both a full roof and canvas cover. The inner and outer roofs, as well as the beams, are made of wood, but the rest of the structure is largely stone. Inside, passing through the arched perimeter, there is the central training circle, with a lesson platform in the center. The towering lesson forums are arranged randomly upon the side of the mountain of Reltazaan, and can be well over sixty meters from the ground to the main level. Over sixty meters wide, this particular forum features a first level wall with double-archway entrances, on top of which is a supporting wall for the large roof and canvas spars. The external area (outside the wall) is roughly eight meters wide and fully covered, allowing students to study in groups without disturbing the main activities inside. On the inside, a shorter roof curves down to cover only the first three meters, while the rest of the center is left open. Overhead, a heavy canvas canopy billows in the cold wind, held aloft by massive oak spars like sails. During the day, the sunlight warms and illuminates the forum, while at night torches mounted to the walls, and hanging lanterns, give ample light for night-time practice. |
